Milan have agreed a deal with Club Guarani for goalkeeper Devis Vasquez, who is now carrying out his medicals at Milanello.

The Rossoneri have been without Scudetto star Mike Maignan for large parts of this season due to a calf injury and his hopes of a January return were shattered after a setback in training last week. There were concerns that Milan would be forced to rely on a backup shot stopper for a key part of this season, something Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara wanted to be fully prepared for.

As detailed by Corriere dello Sport, Milan have agreed to sign 24-year-old Devis Vasquez from Club Guarani, a Paraguayan club. The Colombian goalkeeper landed at Malpensa airport yesterday and visited Milanello today to undergo the usual medical checks.

The player will then return to South America to complete the last bureaucratic paperwork before coming back to Italy on January 10. Because he doesn’t hold an EU passport, Vasquez will take up one of the two non-EU player slots in the squad.

  1. Milan had problems registering all their foreign players for the champions league group stages, so I don’t understand why they are signing more foreigners now? Surely getting an italian or EU keeper would be a smart move to make sure no registration issues for CL.

  2. I don’t care where he’s from, but more importantly who the hell is he even? And how did they find this guy?

  3. Stop whining about “Italian identity” and stuff like that. If you guys rednecks can even count, tell me how many Spanish players Real Madrid had in their latest CL final, and how many British in Liverpool’s starting line-up in the same match?
This is 2023 already, not 2003 or 1993. Look up and see how far you have lagged behind Premier League’s and La Liga’s teams, they had “globalized” decades ago. If those “identities” are so important to you guys, then go watch some amateur teams in your neighborhood, pretty sure they are purely Italians or even “Milanese” if you will.
