Milan released a statement confirming that Alvaro Morata has suffered a lesion to the rectus femoris in his left leg.

The striker was already struggling with a muscular issue after arriving late to pre-season following Spain’s triumphant cavalcade to EURO 2024 glory.

This is why he only came off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Torino that opened the Serie A season on Saturday.

Morata suffers muscular lesion

Morata sustained an injury during the game and it has now been confirmed as a low-grade lesion to the rectus femoris in the left thigh, as per a statement released by the Milan medical team.

The player will be re-evaluated next week, but it is at this point very unlikely that he will recover in time to play against Parma and Lazio in Serie A.

He should also therefore pull out of Spain’s Nations League fixtures next month.

The initial reports suggesting that he would be out of action for circa three weeks do seem to be consistent with this diagnosis.
