Adriano Galliani confirmed Milan have asked Chelsea for Fernando Torres and are “confident” of getting Marco van Ginkel.

The CEO spoke to Milan Channel this evening, the official television station of the club, about their transfer strategy.

“We’re going into the final hours of the market and we’ll see if we will be able to get a great centre-forward, which is our objective.

“Torres is a great centre-forward, we’ll see if he arrives or if it’s someone else, but we are working actively on the issue.”

Today Milan Channel also listed the official targets for the striker role: Torres, Roberto Soldado of Tottenham, Liverpool’s Fabio Borini and Konstantinos Mitroglou of Fulham.

Torres isn’t the only player Milan asked Chelsea for on loan, as they are also in talks to take midfielder van Ginkel.

“We are confident, we made our proposal to Chelsea and are now waiting for an answer. We hope to be able to sign him.”
