According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have decided to invest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who could become their most expensive ever signing.

They are in need of a new striker, as Olivier Giroud has already decided to leave when his contract expires on June 30 and join Major League Soccer club LAFC.

Several options have been mentioned, but it seems as if they have zeroed in on Slovenia international Sesko.

The Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Milan are prepared to invest heavily in the hitman, potentially over €60m.

However, that might not be enough, as Sky Sports Deutschland pointed out on Monday that the release clause in his contract has increased based on performance.

It is currently at €65m and could go as high as €75m, as he has already scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 40 competitive games this season.

Why Milan are choosing Sesko

Sesko is young, turning 21 later this month, and has also attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal in the Premier League.

Milan must therefore move fast to get him to accept their proposal, especially before the EURO 2024 tournament, where his appearance with Slovenia could further enhance his profile.

They have a secret weapon on Noah Okafor, who was teammates with Sesko at RB Salzburg.
