Milan patron Gerry Cardinale and CEO Giorgio Furlani met personally with Stefano Pioli today to discuss their current crisis and show support for the coach.

According to various different sources including Sky Sport Italia, Furlani arrived this afternoon at the Milanello training ground, followed an hour later by Cardinale, who has delayed his return to the USA.

The three men sat down for lunch at the training camp, after the players and the rest of Pioli’s staff had returned home.

Despite the criticism in the media and among fans following the 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Milan continue to show their support and faith in the coach.

As things stand, it seems as if the club has no intention of sacking Pioli before the end of the season, trusting that he can turn the situation around.

They are practically out of the Champions League, needing to beat Newcastle United at St. James Park and hope that PSG also lose to Borussia Dortmund in order to qualify.

The biggest concern they want to discuss is the decimated squad, largely due to a series of muscular injuries, as Malick Thiaw is the latest with a hamstring strain that could require several months out of action.
