Milan chief Geoffrey Moncada was at the training centre today for a meeting with coach Stefano Pioli and the squad ahead of the Champions League opener with Newcastle United.

The atmosphere in the Milanello camp was understandably dark after yesterday’s 5-1 thrashing at the hands of their city rivals Inter in a Serie A top of the table showdown.

That was their fifth consecutive Derby della Madonnina defeat in 2023 between Serie A, the Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League semi-finals.

According to Calciomercato.com, director Moncada was spotted at the training ground today for a meeting with the players and coach Pioli.

There will be a press conference on Monday with Pioli and England defender Fikayo Tomori, who was suspended for that defeat to Inter.

Milan open their Champions League group phase campaign by hosting Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.

They are in a tricky group that is completed by Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
