Milan president Paolo Scaroni confirmed that Milan ‘will be happy’ to explore Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the club and admitted the ‘fans have suffered’ from their recent derby defeats to Inter.

The Rossoneri have bounced back from their 5-1 Derby della Madonnina loss last month and currently sit tied with the Nerazzurri at the top of the league table with 18 points.

Milan are now gearing up for their second outing in the Champions League, travelling to Borussia Dortmund on October 4. A win would be crucial for the team’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages following their draw with Newcastle United in the opening match.

Speaking to Rai GR Parlamento via TMW, Scaroni first discussed Milan’s recent derby losses to Inter and the title race this season.

“I hope this is the case and I hope that in the next derby we can smile again after these five defeats. Our fans have suffered from these defeats.

“The three points lost to Inter are not worth double, but I say this between the serious and the facetious, and when I see the record of this year, I go home with my ears down.

“After the 5-1 I was in a bad mood for 24 hours. But then Pioli got rid of the dross and I think it’s gone. Against Lazio I saw a beautiful, calm, cohesive team that doesn’t look back but looks ahead.

“The first is Wednesday in Dortmund. In October we have a terrifying schedule, and we have to do well in both competitions in which we are involved.”

The Rossoneri CEO weighed in on the club’s latest signings.

“I like everyone. Even those like Adli who played little last year. To pick up a new signing and see him fit in with the team, in harmony with everyone, doesn’t always succeed, but this year I think that’s the case.”

Finally, Scaroni discussed the management possible return of Ibrahimovic. Recent reports suggest that he could come back to the club in a role.

“Zlatan was also at the stadium on Saturday. He met Cardinale, had a meeting with me and then with Furlani.

“He is now going through a sabbatical year. When he is ready to accept the possibility of a return, we will be happy to explore it with him.”
