The Rossoneri need a striker after Stephan El Shaarawy fractured a bone in his foot, ruling him out for at least a couple of months.

This saw the club dive back on to Roma benchwarmer Destro, reportedly offering improved terms on an 18-month loan with an option to buy that would become mandatory under certain circumstances.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Destro has his heart set on Milan and is ready to reject a much more lucrative proposal from Wolfsburg.

It’s not the first time, as he also turned the Bundesliga club down over the summer and his mind won’t be swayed by a €30m offer with €4m per season contract.

Sky also claim that Milan are in talks with QPR outcast Taarabt, who already impressed in a six-month loan spell at San Siro in 2014.

He wanted to make the move permanent, but the clubs could not agree on a transfer fee.
