Milan defender Davide Calabria says referee Marco Serra ‘is probably the most upset’ and believes the Rossoneri should have killed off the game against Spezia much earlier.

Milan suffered an incredible 2-1 loss against Thiago Motta’s side at San Siro last night. Emmanuel Gyasi scored a late winner after Junior Messias saw a goal cancelled out by the referee who hadn’t played advantage, rushing to give a free-kick to Milan.

Just like Stefano Pioli, also Davide Calabria refused to only blame the match official for the Diavoli’s loss.

Refereeing chaos in Milan’s defeat to Spezia: what happened

“We should have killed off the game much earlier,” he told Milan TV.

“To be honest we’d won the game. There was an incident that is hard to explain because the referee immediately realised he’d made a mistake.

“He is probably the most upset because he wouldn’t have expected such a thing. Unfortunately, the mistake happened and we were foolish to concede the second goal. We should have avoided it at all costs.

“It will help us to learn to kill off games sooner.”

  1. Poor Milan. It’s a shame that they suffered such an injustice. I believe it’s the first time a ref has made such an error.

Suck it up, buttercup. It happens every week. Soon you’ll be number three, then who knows how far you’ll fall.
