Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has tested positive for coronavirus and will not play against OGC Nice tonight.

The Rossoneri have announced the Algerian midfielder misses the match scheduled at the Allianz Riviera Stadium at 19.30 UK time tonight, as he tested positive for COVID-19.

Bennacer played 90 minutes against Modena last weekend but was not called up for the trip to France after taking a swab at home.

“Milan announce that Ismael Bennacer has not been called up for the friendly against OGC Nice, as he tested positive for a swab at home, performed during the week,” the club said in a statement.

“The local health authorities in charge were promptly informed. The player is fine and keeps training at home.

“It’s specified that Ismael did not have contact with the rest of his teammates since last Saturday’s friendly against Modena. The team group also tested negative for all the swabs made this week, including the molecular one in view of the away game in Nice.”
