Milan have not yet given up in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and are particularly interested now Sandro Tonali is heading to Newcastle United.

The link goes back several weeks, though he had dropped down the pecking order following the dismissal of directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

According to Sportitalia, those negotiations have resumed this weekend and Loftus-Cheek is climbing back up the list of priorities.

The Rossoneri have a decimated midfield at the moment, as Tonali is on his way to Newcastle in a deal worth €80m including various add-ons and Ismael Bennacer is out for six months with a knee injury.

England international Loftus-Cheek is only under contract for one more year, even if Chelsea do have an option to extend.

The asking price is believed to be in the region of €25m.

He came up through their youth academy and this season contributed two assists in 33 competitive appearances for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Milan do seem to be keeping Daichi Kamada on ice after Maldini agreed terms with the Japan international as a free agent from Eintracht Frankfurt.
