Ahead of the Europa League quarter-final decider with Roma, Milan are looking with concern at their defensive record away from home.

The Rossoneri lost the first leg 1-0 at San Siro and therefore need a victory at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday to turn this around.

Their confidence was not boosted by Sunday’s 3-3 Serie A draw against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium, which confirmed some remarkable statistics.

In Serie A alone, Milan have conceded a massive 29 goals in 17 away fixtures this season, giving them the fourth worst away defence in the League, better only than Frosinone on 37, Salernitana 36 and Sassuolo 33.

At the same time, this seems to represent a riskier approach when outside San Siro, as Milan are also the top scorers away from home in Serie A this season with 37 goals in 17 matches.

The situation is not greatly improved when looking at their record in the Champions League and Europa League, where they leaked eight goals in five away matches.
