Milan could look to James Rodriguez as a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, as the Colombian is eager to leave Everton.

The Rossoneri need a new midfielder after Calhanoglu left as a free agent to join their arch-rivals Inter this afternoon.

Several names have been mentioned, including Josip Ilicic and Ruslan Malinovskyi of Atalanta, Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid or Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.

Now Vito Angelè of MilanReports.com and Sportitalia claims that Milan have asked after James Rodriguez.

He only joined Everton in order to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, so the tactician’s departure for Real Madrid means he has no reason to stay.

James is also desperate to play in the Champions League and Milan have qualified for the tournament after a seven-year absence.

It’s reported the Rossoneri discussed the situation during their meeting with agent Jorge Mendes last week.

The Colombian turns 30 next month and joined Everton as a free agent in September 2020.

He scored six goals and provided nine assists in 26 competitive games.

According to Calciomercato.com, Rafael Leao could be part of an exchange deal with Everton for James.
