French sources claim Milan will celebrate Champions League qualification by trying to sign Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City.

The Rossoneri secured their spot in the tournament thanks to last night’s stoppage-time 2-1 win away to Lazio, which guaranteed a top four finish.

That means fresh investment, along with the advanced negotiations to sell some or all of the club to Bahrain sovereign fund Investcorp.

According to Footmercato, Milan have set their sights on Mahrez to reinforce the attacking front and bring valuable experience to the side.

He just turned 31 in February and can play in a variety of forward roles, most notably the right wing, where the Rossoneri are short n alternatives.

The Algeria international is in fine form with 23 goals and eight assists in 42 competitive matches for Manchester City this season.

His contract is due to expire in June 2023, so Mahrez is available for a relatively small fee.

Milan face competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, but hope to recreate the Algerian midfield chain with Ismael Bennacer.
