Midfielder Meite is not even on the bench at San Siro, despite being called up, and Toro director of sport Vagnati was asked why.
“There are several clubs who are interested in Meite and Milan are one of them,” he told DAZN.
“He is an interesting player, there’s attention around him, but we’ll have to see if this chatter turns into action.”
Milan director Massara also spoke to DAZN ahead of tonight’s match and was asked about the links with Meite and also Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan.
“There are many names that are linked with us. We are evaluating various positions and talking to the coach to see if any additions need to be made.
“There’s a long way to go in the transfer window, we’ll see next week if these situations can be developed.”
Meanwhile, Milan continue negotiations with Hakan Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose contracts expire at the end of this season.
“We remain confident, as we are continuing the discussions with the agents and we are also dealing with two great professionals who are not distracted by contract talk, instead focusing on giving their all for the team. We remain hopeful that we’ll be able to advance and have good news as soon as possible.”
