Milan are reportedly still in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a loan move for young centre-forward Hugo Ekitike, who the Rossoneri are hoping to bring in to serve as a deputy to compatriot Olivier Giroud.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are only interested in bringing Ekitike to San Siro on loan, but are unwilling to agree to an obligation to buy clause.

The Rossoneri will reportedly consider a loan with an option to buy, but at the moment, have no intention of signing the 21-year-old permanently.

Ekitike also has interest from a number of clubs outside Italy, hence why Milan have returned to the negotiating table. Ekitike’s high salary is also a factor that needs to be evaluated.

For that reason, Di Marzio writes, Milan would like to discuss the possibility of PSG paying a portion of Ekitike’s wages if he were to move to San Siro.

One of the main reasons why Ekitike is such an appealing option to Stefano Pioli is his similarity in terms of style and characteristics to the aforementioned Giroud. Ekitike stands at 6’2” and his physical prowess is one of his greatest strengths.

PSG only signed Ekitike permanently in July, for a fee of around €28.5m plus bonuses, having spent the last season in Paris on loan. He had previously represented his hometown side of Remis, where he scored 10 goals from 26 Ligue 1 appearances as a teenager.

Failing Ekitike, Milan are still said to be interested in a loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja.
