Milan and Lazio are preparing for a summer duel for Hellas Verona defender Nicolò Casale.

In the January transfer window, several Italian clubs approached the Giallorossi to ask about the 24-year-old Italian centre back but they made it clear that they had no intention of losing the player mid-way through the season.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Milan and Lazio were both told this and informed to return in the summer, something which they plan to do. The Rossoneri know they need to strengthen their defence and the Biancocelesti have been keen on the Italian defender for a long time now, believing him to be a strong sit for Maurizio Sarri’s system in Rome.

Lazio wanted to try and tie down Casale to a deal in January, even if he stayed at Verona on loan, but this plan didn’t come to fruition, leaving them empty handed. They will try again in the next few months, but will have to fight off competition from Lombardy.
