The details of the new San Siro stadium project presented by Milan and Inter show changes to the previous plan, with a 60,000-seater arena over 100,000 square metres of greenery.

The local council has given the all-clear to begin public debate over the reformed project, with changes based on the previous feasibility study.

Both Milan and Inter accepted the demands from the local authorities to make adjustments to the original proposal.

The new Stadio di Milano is set to be a 60,000-seater stadium with integrated functionality including restaurants, bars, shops and hospitality areas.

The reconfiguration of the area of the city known as San Siro will also see over 100,000 square metres of greenery, of which 65 per cent will be suited to sport and play.

The current plan is to knock down the existing Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and build a new arena not directly on top, but in the area that is currently the adjacent car park.

It is still only at the stage of starting public debate, so is a very long way off being given the all-clear, let alone starting construction.

6 thought on “Milan and Inter stadium project takes next step”
  1. So where are milan and inter going to play for the 4 seasons their current stadium is being knocked down and reconstructed?

This seems like a ridiculously inefficient plan.

  2. The current San Siro will stand until the new one is complete. Then they will demolish the old San Siro.

  3. They are imitating English clubs in the wrong way. In England stadiums barely have more than 60 thousand seats but in fact, it is not the best thing in their football to look at. If they want to become economically successful a few less thousand seats won’t do that for them. Have some dignity and do not make a fool of yourselves.

  4. Vincenzo Cappola…

They said if everything goes according to plan, construction will start early 2024. New stadium is expected to be ready for use in 2027. The demolition of the current San Siro and remodeling the surrounding area should be complete by 2031/2032. I hope this info helped! 😀 Forza Milan!!
