According to the latest reports, Milan and Inter expect to generate €120.4m per season in revenue from a new stadium, with plans to begin construction in January 2024 and open it for September 2027.

The paperwork was presented including the feasibility report to the local council for the project to build a new arena in the San Siro area of Milan, replacing the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Calcio e Finanza claim to have viewed the documents and gained more information on the timing of the project.

The two clubs hope to begin work on January 1, 2024 and believe it will take in total 80 months to compete the entire infrastructure, including areas for sport, play and nature in the surrounding area.

It would be done in two phases, the first building the new stadium with a finish date of September 12, 2027.

The second phase is the demolition of the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, using this area as an underground parking lot, shops, restaurants, sports centre and the Museum of Sport.

That would run from September 2027 to July 2030.

The study also notes that the clubs expect to generate an extra €120.4m per season in revenue from having their own stadium, which is slightly less than the €123.9m predicted in the first iteration of the project in November 2019.

Circa €80.1m will be just from the activity of the stadium, including naming rights, food and beverages, sponsors, merchandise, parking and corporate events.

This does not include matchday revenue, so ticket sales.

The other €40.28m comes from the structures connected to and near the stadium, such as offices, a convention centre, leisure and entertainment complexes, most of which wouldn’t be available until completion of the work in 2030.

In comparison, in the last pre-pandemic full season of 2018-19, Milan and Inter generated a total €12.3m in revenue from Museum, stadium tour, events and sponsors.

  1. There two teams deserve their one stadium. Not a shared one. Madrids two big teams have their own, no one shares in London.
