Former Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini believes Rafael Leao is the ‘most decisive player’ in Serie A, and insists he’s worth more than €100m: ‘If Man City paid €117 for Jack Grealish…’

The Portuguese star has a contract until 2024 and the Rossoneri have already opened talks with his entourage over a new deal.

However, some of the best European clubs have been linked with securing his signature, including Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City.

Ambrosini, a former Milan midfielder, was asked whether the ex-Lille star is the most decisive player in Serie A at the moment.

“Yes, for his self-awareness and effectiveness,” the ex-Italy international told Tuttosport.

So, is he worth more than €100m?

“I don’t like to talk about this, but if Manchester City paid €117m for Jack Grealish…”

Leao has a €150m clause included in his contract, and the Rossoneri are unwilling to sell for a lower fee. The Portugal international was named Serie A’s Best Player for 2021-22 when Milan won their first Scudetto in 11 years.

The Rossoneri face Verona on Sunday night and will be looking to bounce back after a 2-0 loss at San Siro in the Champions League on Tuesday.

“The game at San Siro can’t be considered, we are talking of a falsified game after just 20 minutes,” said Ambrosini.

“It can happen to lose at Stamford Bridge, perhaps they could have done something more against Salzburg, but they still have fate in their hands.

“Milan are aware of their strength in Europe, but they must show the same in Europe because they have the tools to do well,” he added.

Did he expect more from new signing Charles De Ketelaere?

“Milan also need Origi, if we are talking about new signings,” said the midfielder.

“Giroud needs a replacement to rest a little, that’s why I wouldn’t only talk about De Ketelaere, a talented athlete who, I believe, has terminated his trial period.
