Sinisa Mihajlovic admits Empoli deserved to win and warns his players: ‘With this attitude, we’ll go nowhere.’

The Serbian coach was suspended, so he watched his side’s 4-2 defeat against Empoli from the stands at the Stadio Castellani.

Marko Arnautovic missed a penalty kick in the first half, but Mihajlovic believes the game wouldn’t change had the Austrian scored.

“For the way we played, we wouldn’t have won the game anyway,” the former defender told DAZN.

“Empoli played well and deserved to win, we were too soft. There was a slight reaction in the second half, but we played really poorly.

“I can accept mistakes, but I can’t accept the wrong attitude. If we keep doing this, we’ll lose many games, I’ve been saying this since the beginning of the season. I repeated it before the match.

“I am really upset, we sat deep and this kind of performance can’t be justified. I am sorry for everybody, the fans and the president. I am disappointed.

“They managed to get on every ball before us, they had more desire to win the game. If we continue to put in these performances, thinking to be the better side on paper, we’ll also lose the next games.”
