Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic received a visit from his wife in the hospital room where he is undergoing treatment for leukaemia and gave an update to fans.
The tactician had originally been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia in July 2019 and made a full recovery after treatment including a bone marrow transplant.
The illness reared its head again last month and Mihajlovic went back into hospital, but has not stopped working, maintaining contact with his staff and the Bologna squad via video calls.
Today he received a special visit from his wife Arianna, who took a selfie to update supporters on his condition.
“We must be tough without ever losing our sweetness. You are a Lion with a soft heart. Surprise,” she wrote on Instagram.
It has been an emotional time for the Mihajlovic family, as the couple became grandparents in 2021 when their daughter Virginia gave birth to a little girl.
The father is also a football player, Alessandro Vogliacco, so has sport in the genes.
