The focus in the press conference was not so much on the Spezia game as the fact President Saputo is flying in to discuss Mihajlovic’s future at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

“He’s been away for 14 months, so obviously we can only discuss things after he gets here. It’s sad for everyone that he was absent for so long, but I’m sure he had his good reason. In any case, better late than never,” said the coach.

“A President is a reference point and when he is absent, it becomes more difficult to deal with everything at a club.”

When he was asked specifically about his future, Mihajlovic remained purposefully vague.

“My future is tomorrow’s game and that’s all. We created so many chances against Roma and used up so much energy that we should’ve gone into the break at least 1-0 up. I keep warning, good performances aren’t enough, we need the three points to show for it.

“So tomorrow I don’t care what the performance is like, I just want to win.”

The lack of goals is one of the reasons why Bologna are shelving the experiment of Musa Barrow as a centre-forward.

“We are working on him as a striker, but for now he’s still better in a wider role. At this moment, if Rodrigo Palacio is available, then he will be our centre-forward.”
