“All the teams have had more injuries than usual this season, so we are not alone in that,” reasoned Mihajlovic in his press conference.
“Obviously, with everyone available it would’ve been a different season, but the performance was always there anyway. Considering the way we played, we deserved more, but if the same issues keep repeating themselves, then evidently that’s our fault.
“We could’ve done better this season, and could’ve done worse. We were never really in the thick of the relegation battle and that is a good result. We’d all love to go into Europe, but there are clubs behind us in the table who have better resources.
“The positive thing is that we never panicked, instead we kept our cool and remained convinced of our capabilities. Who says we can’t win the next five games and even set a points record for Bologna?”
Takehiro Tomiyasu is finally back in the squad after his muscular injury, while the Rossoblu need to recover from a heavy 5-0 defeat to Atalanta.
“When you concede five goals with a red card and a penalty, it’s always difficult to accept that,” continued the coach.
“Hopefully we can secure our Serie A safety from this weekend. Fiorentina are doing well, but we’ve got a very good chance of victory.
“I have been able to wipe such a heavy defeat from our minds and that means a lot. I don’t know if the team would’ve responded with such maturity a few years ago.”
