Sinisa Mihajlovic said the Bologna squad ‘are doing well’ ahead of the big game against Napoli, but admitted Marko Arnautovic is in doubt for the match at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

Bologna prepare for a trip to Naples on Thursday night and Mihajlovic admitted he must assess the possibilities of starting with Austria international Arnautovic.

But the coach pointed at a positive period for the team, who are working well and are giving him confirmations with their performances against the giants.

“The team are doing well, Arnautovic less, I will evaluate him during the day,” Mihajlovic said at a press conference. “We have to players suspended and for Marko we will see how it goes in training today, but I’m not very confident.

“In other roles, we will make some changes because there’s a need. But I’m calm, because whoever plays will do well.”

Bologna are ninth in Serie A after nine games but haven’t won since the return from the international break in October, arriving from a 4-2 defeat to Milan.

“The lads are always training well, with clarity,” he said. “Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to play certain types of matches.

“Then when you manage to play on par with certain teams, while outnumbered, surely you get more confirmation. Within the club, we have never questioned their awareness.”

Serie A Highlights: Bologna 2-4 Milan

Riccardo Orsolini has only played six games in Serie A this term but Mihajlovic stressed all the attackers are needed.

“Since we changed system, they are certainly playing a lot less,” he said. “But they are training because they all have the characteristics to play as a second striker or as a winger.

“[Andreas] Skov [Olsen], for example, can play on the wing, [Emanuel] Vignato and [Nicola] Sansone can play as attacking midfielders and Orsolini as a second striker.

“However, we can use all of them, so I have no problems in terms of changes.”
