“It is important that we face Parma and Benevento with the same attitude we showed against Juventus and Milan,” said the coach in his press conference.

“We can’t just be content with a good performance now, we need the results too. We’ll try to play our game against Parma tomorrow, be more focused on the details and minimise the errors. I have faith.

“We’ve gone through worse periods than this, and are still seven points clear of Parma, five away from the relegation zone, so we’re not worried. We have to look forward with a positive attitude and believe that sooner or later our luck will turn.

“Parma had a lot of difficulties, as there were many changes both on and off the field. They are really starting a new project now and we’re at a more advanced stage of the process.”

Mihajlovic continues his love-hate relationship with Bologna winger Orsolini, who has often irritated the coach with his inconsistent performances.

“Andreas Skov Olsen will start tomorrow, as he deserves to play and has now fully recovered from an injury. Orsolini is physically fit, but he will be on the bench tomorrow due to a technical decision and not for any fitness concern. I want to make it clear that I am not dumping him, it’s just a way to keep everyone on their toes and feel the pressure.”

The January transfer window has now closed and Mihajlovic almost misses the daily interrogation from the media.

“I expected questions on the transfer market. The only market I remember is the flea market, when my father and I couldn’t afford real Lacoste shirts, so we’d buy cheap knockoffs with a larger crocodile on it. After the first wash, they were already falling apart.

“As for the transfer market, I’ll say Valentin Antov is smart and determined. M’Baye Niang did not arrive, but it was not my fault nor the club’s. Let’s say it was more of a personality issue than a football one.”
