Sinisa Mihajlovic feels that the criticism of Gianluigi Donnarumma is unfair and recalled that he advised him not to leave Milan.

The 23-year-old Italian shot stopper made a calamitous mistake in the 60th minute of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid earlier this week, being caught out with the ball at his feet by Karim Benzema, who went on to net the equalising goal.

Speaking in a press conference today, Mihalhovic discussed if Benzema had fouled Donnarumma in the lead-up to the goal and the Italian goalkeeper’s decision to join PSG last summer.

“I don’t know, it’s one of those situations that’s in the grey area, that have to be interpreted by the referee. You all are too harsh on Donnarumma, both the French and the Italians.

“You make him pay for everything. He didn’t make the right choice, I also spoke to him and advised him to stay, but he chose this way. If it hadn’t been for Donnarumma, Italy would not have won the European Championship, he was the protagonist. He’s a good guy anyway.”

The 23-year-old Donnarumma left Milan on a free transfer last summer in order to sign a five-year contract with the Parisian side.

This season he has only made 11 Ligue 1 appearances, failing to displace veteran shot stopper Keylor Navas in the starting lineup. In those 11 league appearances, the former Milan man conceded eight goals and kept four clean sheets.

  1. The truth is he did not listen to you, but he listened to his agent, forget about the money PSG, they will never be bigger or more illustrious than AC Milan, with a the billions they have spent, still the UCL eludes them, he never truly knew the history and prestige of Milan, he might win the league, but that’s where it stops

  2. Usman, well said my friend! “PSG, they will never be bigger or more illustrious than AC Milan,” regardless of the money they have!

  3. I don’t judge him for trying to advance his career, he’s a professional and we all do the same in our lives..to be the best, he has to compete with the best and go through the tough times he’s going through now and how he comes out of it is what matters but my only anger with him was leaving Milan penniless despite knowing the situation of the club financially! He has to know as well that he’s never going to get the love he got from Milan anywhere because no club will be paying you so much and add love to it😃

  4. It seems as everyone who has a normal functioning brain knew that staying at Milan would be the best decision for him but yeah, only he himself thinks otherwise 😀

    What a fool.

Leave home to live the life with rich strangers. ( perfect quote from totti)

  5. He wanted to chill with the big boys but he can’t even drink water and drop the cup 😂 anyways he chose the life
