Sinisa Mihajlovic insists Bologna had the right approach in their 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina. ‘We conceded two goals on dead-ball situations.’

The Rossoblu tried a comeback, Musa Barrow cancelling out the Youssouf Maleh header, but Cristiano Biraghi’s free kick and a Dusan Vlahovic penalty made a late deflected Aaron Hickey effort mere consolation.

“We conceded two goals on dead-ball situations, but otherwise hardly ran any risks at all in defence,” Mihajlovic told DAZN.

“We could’ve dealt with those situations better, but scored with two really good attacking moves. We knew Fiorentina would try to keep possession and we allowed them that, the lads did what they needed to. We were just unlucky and I am happy with the performance.

“Unfortunately, fatigue set in because we’ve been playing with the same three midfielders for six months and it was our third game in a week.”

Marko Arnautovic’s injury is not as serious as first feared, so could he return next week?

“I hope so, but I’m not sure,” replied the coach. “Barrow already played as a centre-forward last season, so he can do it, but we don’t have anyone with Arnautovic’s characteristics. Barrow does better when he has space to run into.”
