Given his unpopularity amongst some sections of the support, there are suggestions that he could be axed should they lose to their arch-rivals on Tuesday.

"I know that I am at risk, but so too is any other Coach in this game," the former Catania boss said on Monday.

"I'm just continuing on this path and I'm not thinking about the sack," he added. "I'm concentrating on the game.

"Results will be assessed at the end of the day, but I don't care if I'm drinking at the last chance saloon. That could be the case, but that's not in my thoughts.

"The fans can do what they want, it's a normal situation. You have to accept when you are criticised. They have the right to express their opinion.

"Saying that, it's not right to personally abuse someone – that has nothing to do with football."

The Viola go into the match having failed to win any of their last four League games, but that isn't worrying the tactician.

"We have a great opportunity to change the course of our season," he added. "We'll go there with courage in the knowledge of what we can do. We're optimistic that we can do well.

"It will be hard for us to find space against Juventus because their wide midfielders help out a lot in defence. We have a few solutions even if we haven't had the time to test them properly.

"We haven't picked up the points we deserved in the last four games. We probably deserve three more points in the championship.

"But we shouldn't lose hope in times like this. We'll find some fortune at some stage of the season."

Alberto Gilardino has recovered from injury, but Mattia Cassani is injured and Riccardo Montolivo is suspended.

"Gilardino has recovered, but he hasn't got 90 minutes in his legs. We'll have to decide whether he starts or is used as a substitute."
