The draw keeps Mihajlovic’s side in the bottom three, and he insists that they should have taken all three points.

“I’m disappointed with the result,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We started very well, but then unfortunately we had a little fear of winning.

“In the second half it was another game, we created a lot and we deserved to win it. The important thing is that the players understand the difference between that 15-20 minute period in which we were afraid, to that where we did what we had to do.

“The road is long, if we continue with performances like today, then the chances of saving ourselves are there.”

Destro had gone 351 days since his last Serie A goal, and while Mihajlovic will hope that many more now follow, he revealed that he’s happy with what he’s seen from the striker since he arrived.

“I’ve liked his attitude these past two weeks,” he added. “He understands that if he trains as I want him to, the opportunities will come to him.”

Bologna face a trip to the Stadio Olimpico next, taking on Roma next Monday night.
