Sinisa Mihajlovic wants ‘a repeat’ of Bologna's performance in the win over Lazio when they travel to Sardinia to face Cagliari on Wednesday.

The Rossoblu arrive from a 2-0 win over the Aquile last weekend and Mihajlovic stressed the ‘importance’ of keeping up the same mentality in the next match at the Sardegna Arena.

“Surely, the match against Cagliari can be our crossroads,” he said at a press conference. “If we get the result and win, we will be 90 per cent safe and at that point you can also think about the other things we deserve.

“I hope that the lads understand the importance of the match, if we repeat the match against Lazio from the point of view of aggression and determination, it’s much easier to get a positive result.

“I’m very confident, we had a few days to prepare for the match.”

But Mihajlovic doesn’t expect an easy game against the Casteddu, where Leonardo Semplici picked up a win against Crotone in his first game in charge.

“We know the qualities of Cagliari, who from the midfield and up have players who can put us under pressure,” he said. “But we will go there and play to win.

“They are good at counterattacking with [Radja] Nainggolan, and then they do well with Joao Pedro and [Leonardo] Pavoletti.”

Mihajlovic will participate at Sanremo this week, where he will sing a duet with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but he said he will return to Bologna with the team and not travel directly to Liguria.

“I don't have time to rehearse," he said. "But I’ll go back with the team, I always go back with the team.

“Even when I play in Rome and the next day we have a day off, I go back with the team and then I go to Rome.

“I don’t know how many coaches do it, but I do it because it’s right, it’s important to lead by example.

“Thursday morning, we will train and then I will go to Sanremo afterwards. It’s certainly not a tour de force.”
