Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic assures Marko Arnautovic ‘never had any doubts’ that he’d be able to leave Shanghai Port FC, as a deal seems imminent for €3m.
The Austria international had hoped to terminate his contract by mutual consent with the Chinese club and come to Bologna as a free agent.
However, after weeks of negotiations, Sky Sport Italia report the Rossoblu have agreed to pay €3m for the transfer.
“We were always convinced that he would arrive and Marko never had any doubts,” said Bologna coach Mihajlovic in a press conference today.
“The club will do everything possible to get him. We had some misunderstandings with the Chinese side, but I am very confident he will arrive.”
The club was known as Shanghai SIPG, but recently changed to Shanghai Port FC.
Arnautovic is 32 years old and the centre-forward recently featured for Austria at UEFA EURO 2020, reaching the Round of 16, eliminated by Italy in extra time.
He joined Shanghai SIPG in 2019 for €25m from West Ham United, having previously played for FC Twente, Inter, Werder Bremen and Stoke City.
