“I am sad that Torino are struggling so much, as I was happy there and still have a good rapport with the fans, squad and President,” said Mihajlovic.
“Seeing them bottom of the table just confirms how strange this season is and we must take nothing for granted. We’ve all got to adapt quickly so we don’t get dragged into the relegation battle. With no pre-season training, no fans, all these injuries and the virus, anything can happen.”
Bologna are missing both first choice goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski and his understudy Federico Ravaglia, so Angelo Da Costa has to go in goal.
“I am amazed by Rodrigo Palacio. When I was 39, I’d be dead at the third game in a week, but Palacio goes like an arrow.”
Mihajlovic and the club decided to end the training retreat early, as it was meant to run until December 23.
“We talked and agreed to release them from prison!” joked the coach. “The two captains, Andrea Poli and Palacio, came and asked me to suspend the training retreat. I agreed, but asked that first they talk to the rest of the squad so everyone made a moral pact with me, the fans and the club to give their all.
“I don’t demand victories, I expect them to go out there with the right attitude, respecting the jersey they are wearing. They talked it over and assured we’ll never again see what happened against Roma.”
