Torino Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is demanding that his players honour the club in their match against Benfica tonight.
The friendly game against the Portuguese champions has been organised in memory of those who died in the Superga air disaster.
In 1949, the aeroplane carrying the entire Granata squad, known as ‘Grande Torino,’ crashed into the Superga Basilica while transporting them home from a friendly in Lisbon. There were 31 victims in total.

“The players who go out on the pitch must honour the names of the ex-Granata players who perished in the Superga tragedy,” Mihajlovic told journalists.
“Even though it is a friendly, a poor effort is not allowed. We must honour Grande Torino, it’s a unique day.
“I am proud to be the Toro Coach for this game, in which our team will play Benfica again. I hope it is a good match.”
