“We need to keep our feet on the ground and keep working,” Mihajlovic began in his pre-match Press conference.

“But playing like this we can beat anyone. We had a strong game, we conceded a goal to their first chance but then we reacted.

“The only thing I didn’t like is the way we relaxed after the fourth goal, that shouldn’t happen because you should always play with the same intensity from start to finish.

“It’s easier to handle wins than to handle defeats, but we have to stay down to earth and continue like this, without getting big-headed and thinking we’ve already arrived.

“I’ve already said I didn’t like the relaxation after the fourth goal, and that must never happen again.

Milan, Inter and Napoli have more quality than us, but with our spirit and determination we can get deserved wins, as we’ve already shown at home two teams who are stronger than us [Fiorentina and Roma].

“As I said at the start, the ambition of my two-year contract is to get into Europe, and we have the possibility of doing it this year even though there are stronger teams than us.

“We need to keep going like this, taking it a game at a time and knowing there will be defeats to deal with as well as more wins.”

Ljajic scored two sublime goals, but was then substituted in the second half…

“I know what Ljajic is worth, and he knows what I can do for him. We rely on each other, and we know we can give each other so much.

“Ljajic has shown how important he is, with him on the pitch there are certain games we wouldn’t have lost. Without his injury we could have been second.

“I took him off because he got a stupid booking and the opponents were trying to provoke him – I know his character.”

The win takes Toro just two points behind Milan, the club who sacked Mihajlovic toward the end of last season.

“I have no regrets and I have no desire for revenge,” the Coach assured.

“I’ll forever be thankful for [Silvio] Berlusconi and [Adriano] Galliani for giving me the chance to Coach a team like Milan.

“Now I’m here though, and I have an ambitious President [Urbano Cairo] who has set up a smaller club than Milan, but one in which everyone knows what they have to do.”
