“Playing at San Siro against Milan is always complicated, but we will go there to take the initiative,” said the Serbian in a Press conference.

“We cannot guarantee a result, but we can guarantee the utmost effort. It is important to get off to a strong start.

“I am not seeking revenge on anyone. Obviously I was disappointed I didn’t get to finish the season with Milan, but I will salute everyone with affection.

“My rapport with (Torino President Urbano) Cairo is good. In my view, he’s like the early Silvio Berlusconi. We have the same ideas, are clear on those ideas, and talk about everything. We focus on football here and that’s important for me.”

Mihajlovic might shrug off the tension with Milan, but fully admits to being furious with want-away defender Nikola Maksimovic.

“I don’t want to talk about him anymore. He let me down as a man. His future is in the hands of the club. What I expect from my players is that they follow moral and tactical principles. We must be a team that fights and always plays to win.

“We have to stay tight, press and seek vertical runs. It’s natural you can’t see all of that in the opening round, but we are working towards these objectives.”

Mihajlovic confirmed Iago Falque has fully recovered and is available, while Adem Ljajic “is in good shape. He is a strong player who must give us creativity, quality and unpredictability.”
