“We made steps forward, working more on possession. The lads are working hard and are not accustomed to this level of intensity,” said the new Coach.

“We made steps forward, working more on possession. The lads are working hard and are not accustomed to this level of intensity,” said the new Coach.
That can be seen as a sideswipe at the methods of predecessor Inzaghi, who was accused of going too easy on his players.
“I saw the right attitude and it’s only normal at this stage that many are still a long way off fitness.
“I think that for a winning season we need organisation, professionalism and concentration in every area of the club. We can’t win anything alone, so to win we must all work in the same direction.”
Mihajlovic was asked about the transfer strategy after El Shaarawy left to join Monaco last night, while another offer for Roma defender Romagnoli was rejected.
“I think it was the best thing for El Shaarawy considering our new system, the 4-3-1-2. It’s only right that after two difficult years he can find new motivation and play in his preferred role. I saw him motivated and I hope he can prove what he can really do.
“We’ll see what happens with Romagnoli. It’s true €25m is a lot of money for a young player who has the potential to become very good. Unfortunately it doesn’t depend on us, but the club will try again and we’ll see.
“The club knows what we need to improve and we are in total sync on both reinforcements and the reduction of the squad. The priority is the defence.”
Meanwhile, the rumours over Zlatan Ibrahimovic continue to circulate.
“You’d have to ask (President Silvio) Berlusconi,” smiled Mihajlovic. “With Ibra on the field you certainly have more guarantees. I know what he can give.”
