“Tomorrow will be important for our confidence and for the table. We must continue this positive streak,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“It has not been an easy campaign for us. I expected it to a degree, but also expected to have a few more points under our belts. After the defeat to Napoli, we only lost to Juventus in Turin, so that’s a good run.

“If someone thinks this is going to be an easy game then they are sorely mistaken, because Frosinone picked up 13 of their total 14 points on home turf. If we remain solid and compact in defence, then improve our passing and shooting accuracy, then we can win.”

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens in cinemas,  will 2016 see Milan awaken?

“I haven’t seen it. I don’t like a film unless there’s blood in it,” replied Mihajlovic. “I’d like to be Harry Potter, but unfortunately I don’t have a magic wand.

“The Coppa Italia win over Sampdoria on Thursday was not a given, considering our situation and all the controversy. We proved that nobody is giving in and we do have character.

“I showed the lads these statistics, noting we are the fourth best team in terms of creating chances and only the 11th in converting them. We are fourth when it comes to shots on goal, but 12th in precision of shots. We must try to be more precise and clinical in attack.

“I know Milan spent €80m over the summer, but these three players are proving they were worth the money. Alessio Romagnoli is already a firm fixture in defence despite his tender age, Carlos Bacca is our top scorer and Andrea Bertolacci is doing well when he’s not injured.

“We’ve been talking about the January transfer window for six to eight weeks now. We have clear ideas, we’ll see what happens. If we buy a player, it’ll be because he is useful to this team.”

After the 1-1 draw with Verona last week, Mihajlovic pointed to the referee, but now takes a different approach.

“If we had taken our chances then we would’ve won regardless of refereeing errors. It is wrong to think we didn’t win because of the referee.

“We know how Frosinone will play, with long balls and knock-downs. We are not Barcelona or Bayern Munich, we cannot think we’ll win just because we’re more talented. We have to fight for every ball.”
