Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic says Zlatan Ibrahimovic is “like a brother” to him, and that he understands why he rejected the Rossoblu for Milan.

Ibra returned to Italy with Milan earlier this month after seven years away from the country, after his contract with MLS side LA Galaxy expired.

Bologna had been linked with a move for the Swede, in part due to Mihajlovic’s relationship with the former Juventus striker from their time together at Inter.

Ultimately, Ibra signed for the Rossoneri.

“Ibra is like a brother, as players we clashed, then we became friends, “ said Mihajlovic to Verissimo, an Italian TV show.

“I was sorry he didn’t come here to Bologna but I understand the choice of Milan, even if he would had more fun with us.
“We have a very similar character. I’m glad he returned to Italy.

"We only hope that he won’t be able to play against us, so we will have one less problem to worry about.”

Ibrahimovic has already got off the mark in Serie A, scoring in the 2-0 win over Cagliari last weekend.
