Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic admits President Silvio Berlusconi was ‘disappointed’ by defeat to Fiorentina.

Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic admits President Silvio Berlusconi was ‘disappointed’ by defeat to Fiorentina.

Rumours this week suggested that the 2-0 loss to the Viola were behind the Rossoneri’s decision to drop their pursuit of Roberto Soriano.

While the Serbian tactician insists relations are normal between himself and the club hierarchy, Mihajlovic admits the patron was disappointed.

“The President was disappointed by the defeat,” the former Sampdoria Coach admitted in his pre-match Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Empoli match.

“That’s normal though. We [the players and staff] are the first to be disappointed. We talked, we met, but everything is clear. When we talk, we talk about football, as with [CEO Adriano] Galliani].

“We had a misstep in Florence, which is possibly the toughest away trip of all. We wanted to win and we deserved to lose, we’re not going to make excuses.

“Now we have our first home game, and we have to win well. Empoli are an organised team who can cause us problems.

“I’m convinced tomorrow we’ll start again. We’ll play a good game, and we know we have to win and be convincing.”

It appeared Philippe Mexes was on the verge of a move to Fiorentina this week, but the deal collapsed, and Mihajlovic reveals the Frenchman will not be selected for tomorrow.

“Mexes is not well, and he won’t be in the squad. We have six central defenders though, because there’s also [Cristian] Zaccardo.

“The Mexes deal? You’d have to ask those involved with the transfers about that, not me.”
