The Derby della Madonnina this evening will play host to a midfield battle between Milan’s Sandro Tonali and Inter’s Nicolo Barella.
It still remains to be seen if the two players can fit together in Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri squad, but regardless they are both some of the most talented young midfielders in Europe. Barella is more of a forward-focused player, good at inserting himself in the attack, whilst Tonali is more defensively-minded, having a good tackle and vision for play.
Whoever emerges victorious from the midfield duel will give a significant edge to their team in tonight’s derby. Tonali’s performances this season show his potential, but also highlight his inconsistencies, whilst Barella has continued to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe.
The derby tonight could be crucial in this season’s title race, with Inter sitting four points ahead of Milan at the top of the table, with a game in hand.
Tonali has been very consistent this season. He’s been consistently our best midfielder.

Consistent for Milan level does not mean he is consistently good. Thats what FI meant
He was consistently better than the Inter midfield today *:I
