Michu says he is at Napoli to ‘aim to win everything’ this season and to try and break back into the Spanish national team.

The forward is preparing for the new season with the Partenopei after agreeing to an initial one-year loan switch from Premier League side Swansea City.

“The impressions are good, I’m adapting well. I came here to work, to give my all and to return to my best form. I want to work well for a great season,” Michu began today.

“He could also play alongside Higuain,” Aurelio De Laurentiis interjected at this moment. The President had used the start of the Press conference to clarify that recent comments made over former Coach Walter Mazzarri were not ‘an attack’.

Michu then continued: “The main goal is to win, but there are strong teams such as Juventus, Roma, Fiorentina, and the important thing is to find the best form and to try to fight for everything.

“It goes back to the meeting in the Europa League with Swansea. Of Napoli I had heard wonders of the city and the team. Even the climate of my country is very similar to that of Naples.

“Insigne showed me a video on the internet of the Sao Paolo full with the Champions League anthem playing and I was very excited, it gave me chills.

“In terms of scoring goals I will say that I will work, I would liked to score a lot, but if I do not then I will be at the disposal of the team, and I can even put on the gloves to help, if I have to…

“My best position? Behind the forward, but I can make myself available to all the directions of the Coach.

“I want to feel good, train well, aim to win everything and see that people are happy. If all goes well, and all parties are happy, there is no time limit [to staying on at the club].

“A goal against Juventus perhaps? I am a player who identifies a lot with the fans. I hope to score many goals, even many against Juventus, who are eternal rivals.”

Michu was on the verge of breaking into the Spanish national team before form and fitness deserted him last year.

“Benitez has the same playing style as my previous team. I like this a lot and I am happy. It is difficult to get into the national team, I was close, but I will continue to fight to get there.

“I know it is hard to play here [for Spaniards], but Callejon and Llorente have done very well and I want to do as well as them and prove wrong that Spaniards are not for the Italian League.

“I’m getting better, the injury is behind me.”
