The Lega Serie A has unanimously chosen Gaetano Micciché as their new temporary President and will vote on March 19.

Commissioner Giovanni Malagò, who is also President of the CONI, had an extremely productive unofficial meeting with the 20 Serie A clubs today.

He defined the rescheduled Week 27 games that were called off due to Fiorentina captain Davide Astori’s tragic death, set the dates for the 2018-19 Serie A season, Italian Super Cup, changed the draw system for the Coppa Italia and shortened the summer and winter transfer sessions.

Malagò also found a new Lega Serie A Commissioner to take over and enact reforms until the clubs can agree on a new President.

“There will be an assembly on March 19 in Milan. The order of the day will be nominating Gaetano Micciché as President. All the clubs were present and unanimously accepted his candidacy.

“We decided to wait for the antitrust verdict on March 25 to choose a figure who is most suitable for the general manager and counsel.”

Micciché is a banker and chief of Banca IMI.
