The Mexican Federation has announced Napoli forward Hirving Lozano will be out for ‘four to six weeks’ after undergoing surgery on a deep cut near the eye.
The Mexico international was stretchered off during the Gold Cup game against Trinidad and Tobago after a horrible collision with the opposition goalkeeper’s knee.
He was left with a huge gash over his eye and there were fears of concussion, but the initial reports claimed he didn’t require surgery.
The Mexican Federation has now announced the attacker underwent a successful intervention and will be out for four to six weeks.
“After the shock during Mexico vs. Trinidad and Tobago, Hirving Lozano was taken to hospital where he was treated and underwent several medical studies after the severe blow and hyperextension of the neck,” the press release said.
“The attacker had a reconstruction of his left eyebrow wound by a plastic surgeon, and after the favourable results of the surgery, the player is already recovering at the hotel.
“However, there will be a subsequent neurological evaluation. The specialists have estimated a recovery time of four to six weeks.”
