The French defender joined the Rossoneri from Roma, but has only featured once for Filippo Inzaghi’s side this season.

Despite this, Mexes has spoken of his respect for the Coach, and says he wants to stay at San Siro.

The centre-back earns a reported €4m a season, but insists he’d be willing to take a wage cut to remain at Milanello.

“I’m not asking to earn what I earn now,” Mexes explained to Sky Sport Italia.

“I still believe I can stay, I’m hoping to renew my contract.

“It’s not easy waiting, it’s hard to think that in six months I might not have a club.

“But I’m here, and I’ll give 120 per cent to Milan to show that they can rely on me and that I can stay here for many years.”
