The French defender reacted furiously after being sent off in the 3-1 defeat to Lazio, throttling Aquile captain Stefano Mauri from behind before being dragged away by teammates.
Mexes has since apologised for his actions, but has nevertheless been excluded from Filippo Inzaghi’s squad for the rematch with Lazio in the Coppa Italia.
