The midfielder moved to the Stadio San Paolo in August 2012 from Genoa, but he was only used in 16 Serie A games by previous boss Walter Mazzarri.

“Mesto is happy in Naples,” agent Moreno Roggi told Radio CRC on Tuesday. “Wearing the Napoli shirt has always been his dream and he wants to stay here.

“If he does move on, against his wishes, then we will analyse every solution that is available to us.”
