Messi is now without a goal or an assist in the last five games against Real Madrid. He missed the first Clasico of the post-Cristiano Ronaldo era in 2018, due to an injury.
The Portuguese forward scored 20 goals in 34 games against Barcelona, but the first time and only time he found the net against the Catalans in the Champions League was this past December when he scored a brace in Juventus’ 3-0 win over the Blaugrana in the group stage.
Cristiano Ronaldo will see his Juventus contract expire in June 2022, but there are reports he could join PSG or return to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Messi has also been linked with a move away from Barcelona as his agreement with the La Liga giants expires in the summer.
