The Belgian winger was linked with a move away from San Paolo this summer, with club President Aurelio De Laurentiis threatening to sue his representative, Soren Lerby, over Inter links.

However, there appeared to have been a thawing of relations last month, when representatives from Lerby and from the Partenopei met to discuss a new contract.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is now reporting that the agent himself has arrived in Naples, and could meet with De Laurentiis this week.

It’s thought both the club and the Belgian international are keen to work out a deal to keep Mertens at Napoli for the foreseeable future.
