Jeremy Menez insists his ‘ear’ goal celebration was “for the media, not the fans” after Milan beat Cagliari 3-1.

“My gesture was not for the fans, but for the media. They talk about me without knowing anything and I don’t like that,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

However, eight of those were from the penalty spot.

“In my view our defeat to Fiorentina was a real shame and undeserved. Tonight we wanted to play a similar performance, but with a win at the end.

“We all help each other and if we continue like this then we can do great things. There are 10 rounds to go, if we win two or three in a row then everything will change.

“I always give my all, but there are matches in which I don’t score and still work hard for the team.”
